Today’s article is short and sweet, but highly actionable.
There was a recent microbiology study that was conducted in an effort to find the most germ-ridden, bacteria-laden item in the average kitchen. And while we might automatically think of knives as very dangerous, cloth dish towels can be far worse.
A study from the American Society for Microbiology found that cloth kitchen towels accumulate more food-poisoning pathogens that any other kitchen item. And the problem is proportional to the size of your family (larger families = more pathogens), the weather (humidity = more pathogens), and the amount of meats you prepare.
This is a problem that is highly actionable and easy to solve. Buy a lot of dish cloths and switch them out often (daily at least), and use paper towels for the nastiest clean-up jobs.
